Bonn is not the only city celebrating Beethoven's 250th birthday this year. In Constance, Beethoven's 5th Symphony was chosen for the light art project "LichtSinfonie" to mark the occasion. The plan was for the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie, conducted by Benjamin Lack, to play Beethoven's piece on March 14 in the former post office building in Constance. At the same time, the 351 windows of the front facade of the Telekom high-rise were to be illuminated with LED floodlights, thus also providing a visual background to Beethoven's symphony. Unfortunately, the planned event had to be cancelled due to the corona virus. Nevertheless, the dress rehearsal for the LichtSinfonie took place and quickly became an event itself. While the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie was playing, neighbors spontaneously stopped by and looked fascinated at the illumination of the facade, which was coordinated with the music. The light art project could be realized thanks to the support of sponsors. Among them was the Stadtwerke Konstanz, which provided the required amount of electricity for the visual design free of charge. For this, the Stadtwerke chose its ÖkostromPlus, which is certified with the Grüner Strom-Label. Thus, the LichtSinfonie could be implemented with 100 percent real green electricity.
