24 bridges, 15 works of art, 4 months, one city. These are the numbers of the Braunschweig Light Trail 2020. 20 years later, as with the first staging in 2000, the water course of the Oker is the focus of the artistic debate. Along the Oker across the city and across the 24 bridges, national and international artists present 15 works of art in sculptural and cinematic form.
This year, the 5th edition of the light course will take place. The focus is among other things: The sustainable, responsible use of resources. For this reason, this year's edition of the event will be supplied for the first time with the green electricity certified tariff BS|Naturstrom Gold.
The Green Electricity seal of approval obliges energy providers to invest a fixed amount per kilowatt hour consumed in energy transition projects. These can include wind farms, tenant power projects or electric mobility concepts. But they also include programs for private customers to promote an ecological energy supply in their own homes. In the case of the BS|Naturstrom Gold tariff, 1.00 cent is invested in innovative energy transition projects for every kilowatt hour of electricity consumed. BS|Energy enables the citizens of the city of Braunschweig to become an active part of the energy transition and to protect the climate from the comfort of their own homes.
Since 1999, BS|Energy's investments have enabled around 170 new energy transition projects to be realized. In total, more than 1,400 energy transition projects have already been co-financed by Grüner Strom-Label certified green power products.
Until October 9, 2020, the organizers invite art lovers to experience and explore the trail on foot, by bike or on the water.
