How do we move forward? And above all: How do we move forward in the most environmentally friendly way possible? BS|ENERGY asked itself these questions and answered them with the expansion of an electrically powered vehicle fleet and the associated infrastructure. The company currently has 85 alternatively powered vehicles - incidentally one of the largest in Lower Saxony. Every second vehicle in the company fleet now has an electric or other alternative drive.
But without electricity there is no progress - this is supplied by the charging stations of BS|ENERGY, which since 2018 have been powered by Grüner Strom-Label certified green electricity. But the energy provider not only powers its own vehicles, it also electrifies Braunschweig's roads: together with cooperation partners, BS|ENERGY is promoting the expansion of the charging infrastructure in Braunschweig.
Fleets at Grid
But such an expansion of the charging infrastructure needs to be well thought out, which is why BS|ENERGY is researching the optimal design for the charging network as part of the "Fleets at Grid" project. BS|ENERGY's vehicle fleet and its use by employees provide the data basis for the evaluation of vehicle statistics, CO2 emissions, driving behavior and charging profiles. Thus, it can be analyzed when and where, how much charging technology is needed to create effective charging capacities.
BS|ENERGY is not alone in expanding environmentally compatible mobility; the company REWAG also operates charging stations that provide a 100 % green tank filling with Grüner Strom-Label certified green electricity. This electricity is sourced from the run-of-river power plant in Regensburg.
But such sustainable mobility can only succeed if there are as many imitators as possible who help drive the expansion of the infrastructure and the use of the vehicles.
