From 01.01.2017, REWAG will completely purchase the electricity generated from the Pfaffenstein hydropower plant for a period of five years, thus offering its customers a green electricity product made from 100 percent renewable energy from the region: the Green Electricity certified tariff rewario.electricity.nature is fed entirely from the adjacent hydropower plant. REWAG thus supplies around 11,500 households per year and almost 40 electric charging stations for electric cars with green electricity from the Danube.
REWAG has been offering Green Electricity-certified green electricity since 2000, thereby promoting environmentally friendly energy projects. This is because certification with the Green Electricity label not only guarantees 100 percent green electricity, but also the promotion of renewable generation plants. 1 cent per kilowatt hour of the green electricity tariff rewario.electricity.nature flows into projects that could not be realized without support - in this way, Green Electricity certification guarantees added value that no other German green electricity label offers to the same extent.
By 2020, REWAG intends to invest a further 100 million euros in the expansion of energy - own generation. The goal is to generate more than 60 percent of the electricity sold to private individuals from its own renewable energy sources.
Electricity and heat are preferably generated at the point of consumption, for example decentrally in combined heat and power plants. In this way, REWAG sustainably strengthens the region and promotes the energy transition.
