"Not everywhere that says organic on it is also organic in it - unfortunately, this also applies to biogas products," said Rosa Hemmers, chairwoman of Grüner Strom Label e.V. "The Grünes Gas-Label guarantees ecological and regional production and thus helps consumers to identify the most environmentally friendly offers among the many organic and eco-gas products."
The Green Gas seal of approval is the only biogas label in Germany to be supported by environmental associations such as NABU and BUND. NATURSTROM thus continues to offer biogas that meets the high requirements of the environmental associations. Particularly sustainable is natureelectricity biogas because it is obtained entirely from residual materials. It comes from a sewage gas plant in Hamburg and from a biogas plant in Alteno, Brandenburg, where organic residues are fermented. Around 14,000 households currently subscribe to the certified biogas tariffs of the Düsseldorf-based green energy supplier.
"Like the electricity market, the gas market is now characterized by strong competition in sales," explains Oliver Hummel, CEO of NATURSTROM AG. "In the jungle of providers and tariffs, not every consumer can assess the quality and energy transition added value of our biogas products compared to the competition at first glance. As a demanding and credible label, Green Gas is an important orientation aid. We are therefore delighted that our gas products will again be awarded the label in 2016."
If a provider wants to use the label, an independent institute checks whether the criteria are met. This expert control is carried out by DVGW CERT GmbH. After an intensive testing process, DVGW CERT has given the green light for NATURSTROM AG's certified biogas products.
About Grüner Strom Label e.V.
The Grüner Strom Label e.V. certifies green energy products.
