The promotion of an ecological energy supply is the guiding principle and vision of the Grüner Strom Label e.V. Logical consequence is that in the criteria of the two quality labels Green Electricity and Green gas criteria for the decentralized, nature-compatible expansion of renewable energies are anchored. The certified Green electricity- and Biogas products This sets them apart from the broad mass of supposedly green energy products, as the issue of natural compatibility hardly plays a role in most products.
As part of the Dialogforum Naturverträgliche Energiewende, Grüner Strom Label e.V. conducted a non-representative online survey in 2017. About 250 participants took part and were asked about the compatibility of nature compatibility and renewable energies.
In recent weeks, we have already published results on the topics of solar energy generation and wind turbines. Now follow the results on the third section, which deals with the use of biomass in biogas plants.
According to the respondents, whether biomass can be used for energy in an environmentally compatible way depends strongly on the type of biomass. For example, around 95 percent consider biogas from residual materials and waste to be fully or somewhat compatible with nature. In direct comparison, just under one third of the participants believe that the use of energy crops is compatible with nature.
The online survey indicates that the use of biogas plants strongly depends on the origin of the substrates that are fermented into biogas. While the use of biogenic waste and residual materials meets with almost 95 percent approval, the nature-friendly use of wood and energy crops is more heavily burdened with reservations. Statements by participants indicate a more differentiated view. If there is a sensible overall utilization concept, the use of NawaRo can also be compatible with nature.
