The wind is rattling the leaves, autumn is noticeably just around the corner. Due to the third consecutive year of drought, a lot of leaves have already fallen from the trees in recent weeks - this is climate change live.
A much-discussed topic in the dry late summer is strategies for the continued operation of post-EEG plants, because at the end of this year the first plants will fall off the EEG subsidy. Various solutions are being considered, but there is still no clear legal framework. We may be in for a stormy fall. Nevertheless, the number of customers for electricity from post-EEG plants is rising.
In contrast, citizens are providing a stable tailwind for the energy transition and more climate protection: In a 2019 nature awareness study by BMU and BfN, a clear majority of the population continues to support the energy transition. This was also demonstrated by many people on the streets during the global climate strike on September 25 and at the polls in the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia.
