Since January 1, 2018, the green electricity tariffs "Chancen geben Privat" and "Chancen geben Gewerbe" of the energy provider SAVERO Energie have been certified with the Grüner Strom-Label. Both tariffs are available nationwide. The electricity comes 100 percent from Norwegian and Austrian hydropower plants.
The green electricity tariffs support energy transition projects: For example, 0.5 cents per kilowatt-hour of the private customer rate "Chancen geben Privat" (Give Private Opportunities) goes toward the expansion of renewable energies. The eco-electricity label of the environmental associations requires a fixed amount per kilowatt hour consumed to be invested in energy transition projects. The subsidies have now been used to support over 1,300 projects with more than 55 million euros. These include many different projects, such as photovoltaic and wind power plants or tenant electricity projects, which contribute to the success of an environmentally compatible and decentralized energy transition.
In addition, SAVERO invests profits generated from "Chancen geben Privat" at GLS Bank. The financial institution grants loans for socially and environmentally compatible projects.
