On September 18, the Bonn-based Energy Transition Forum 2018 will take place. It offers energy suppliers and supporters of the energy transition a platform for the exchange of practical experience, perspectives and ideas for a green (energy) future.

The central topic of the annual conference of Grüner Strom Label e.V. is e-mobility and the traffic turnaround. Against the backdrop of the diesel gate, particulate pollution and the threat of driving bans, electromobility in particular is becoming increasingly important. Enormous progress is being made in various fields of technology. This applies not only to the vehicles themselves, but also to the (charging) infrastructure.

But electromobility only makes sense with green electricity

The topic of e-mobility offers energy suppliers, environmental associations and municipalities many points of contact and opportunities for cooperation. That is why we are bringing these players together: This year the Stadtwerke Bonn (SWB Energy and Water) Host of the now fifth Energy Transition Forum.

Heiko Müller, project engineer at SWB, will present the e-mobility strategy of Stadtwerke Bonn and current projects in the federal city. As early as 2012, energy suppliers from the region joined forces for the Initiative estart have joined forces to jointly promote e-mobility. Within the framework of the EU project ZeEUS (Zero Emission Urban Bus System), six e-buses have now been successfully tested in regular service. Several e-buses are to be procured for regular operation - the vision: Complete switch to e-buses around 2030. In addition to support programs for e-scooters and e-bikes, SWB is also investing in the expansion of the charging infrastructure. In the process Green power with Grüner Strom-Label for use, in keeping with the motto: E-mobility only makes sense for the environment with genuine green electricity.

Before moving on to various themed forums in the afternoon, Dietmar Oeliger, Head of transport policy of the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union NABU and Chairman of Grüner Strom Label e.V., will address the perspective of environmental associations on e-mobility in his keynote address: E-mobility in the transport transition: Huge opportunity or risk? "Electromobility is particularly environmentally friendly when proper green electricity is used. Electric vehicles that run on coal-fired power or are simply painted green with virtual green power certificates are only half-hearted contributions to the energy and transport turnaround," is the unequivocal position taken by NABU and Grüner Strom Label e.V. In addition to NABU, BUND and EUROSOLAR are also calling for e-vehicles to be powered by electricity from renewable sources. The environmental associations thus share the opinion of 70 percent of all citizens, as a survey by Grüner Strom Label e.V. showed back in 2013.

The EnergyAgency.NRW with the umbrella brand Electromobility NRW is this year's cooperation partner for the Energy Transition Forum. Georg Grothues from the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen, Electromobility Network will moderate the thematic forum on e-mobility and transport transition in the afternoon. In his introduction, he will address not only battery-powered e-mobility, but also amber cell technology. NRW offers ideal conditions for these future technologies thanks to its technology companies, R&D sector and, not least, its central location.

The thematic forum itself provides an interesting setting for various players from the mobility sector: Norman Elmers presents the e-mobility strategy of Polar star from Munich in front of. The independent green power provider offers Electricity services for e-mobility which can also be tailored to individual customer requirements.

What can the new e-car from Engineering Valley and what are the ideas behind it? Daniel Bargende, representative of the Aachen startup e.GO Mobile AG, shares a young automaker's view of the mobility concepts of the future.

How does car sharing work with fuel cell and e-cars? The answer gives CleverShuttle. Fabio Adlassnigg from GHT Mobility GmbH reports on experiences from Car-Sharing practice. CleverShuttle is now available in Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig and Stuttgart. Frankfurt and Dresden will follow shortly. The Berlin-based startup was awarded the German Mobility Award in the Best Practice category excellent.

With e-vehicles and interesting Practical experience of e-mobility in rural areas live on site is Markus Mann, Managing Director of the MANN natural energy from the Westerwald region, a practical partner of the Energy Transition Forum. So conference participants can experience e-mobility at first hand, so to speak.

The Energy Transition Forum 2018

The Energy Transition Forum 2018 of Grüner Strom Label e.V. will take place on September 18 at Stadtwerke Bonn (SWB Energie und Wasser). The EnergyAgency.NRW with the umbrella brand Electromobility NRW could be won as a further cooperation partner.

After introductory presentations in the morning, there will be three parallel thematic forums in the afternoon. In the evening, there will also be an evening reception to mark our 20th anniversary. The focal points of this year's Energy Transition Forum are:

  •  E-mobility and traffic turnaround
  • Smart energy supply and sector coupling
  • Decentralized energy transition and post-2020 concepts

The event is aimed at representatives of the energy industry, civil society actors, industrial and commercial customers, representatives of public institutions.

Green gas under the microscope

A recently published investigation by the non-profit media company "CORRECTIV" reveals that many German energy suppliers advertise their gas tariffs as environmentally friendly, even though they are far less green than advertised.
