"The energy transition needs young people who are committed to a green future in our country," explains GSL Chair Rosa Hemmers. "With this competition, we are reaching a generation that is already making important decisions for tomorrow and is standing up for more sustainability in many areas." This is also what the Grüner Strom-Label stands for, which is the green electricity label of the environmental associations and guarantees investments in innovative energy projects. The "Green Future Initiative" is endowed with a total of €10,000 in funding.
Students have until June 30 to apply. A jury will then decide which ten projects will be awarded prizes. Exciting projects from all over Germany are expected among the applicants. With the netzwerk n the GSL e.V. has a project partner at its side, who has a direct line to the student initiatives.
"The competition creates the opportunity for students to take a self-determined look at the issue of a sustainable energy supply. We hope that this will make even more students aware of this issue and, as pioneers of change, actively help shape their future," says Johannes Geibel, Chairman of netzwerk n, the Germany-wide network for a more sustainable university landscape.
What the educational projects should look like is deliberately left open in order to leave enough room for new ideas. However, they must deal with the topics of energy transition, renewable energies or energy efficiency and should take the form of either events or educational materials. Together with netzwerk n and the competition's media partners energieblogger and factory - Magazin für nachhaltiges Wirtschaften, the winning concepts will then be presented in the summer.
