Bonn, June 21, 2023. The sales volumes of green electricity with the Grüner Strom-Label and biogas with the Grünes Gas-Label broke new records in 2022 despite the energy market crisis. At the same time, this means that increased investments were made in the energy transition. For every kilowatt hour consumed, a fixed amount flows into innovative energy transition projects. In this way, a total of over 90 million euros has already been invested in more than 1,800 ecologically valuable projects. Through their energy purchases, consumers support the expansion of renewable energies, which is needed for a cross-sectoral energy transition and energy independence.
New sponsoring association and sustainability communication
In addition to the developments of the Green Electricity and Green Gas labels, the activity report 2022 reports on the marketing activities and the structure of the association. The activities in the area of communication and marketing have the goal of making the Green Electricity and Green Gas seals of approval better known and more tangible as a sign of premium energy products. The association has concentrated on the following fields of work: online communication, the Podcast „Strom Aufwärts“, the Event series "Energiewende2Go as well as the Tariff comparison portal "vergleich-dich-gruen.de.
The ecoenergy labels are the only seals of approval for green electricity and biogas in Germany that are supported by associations for the environment, peace and consumer:in - and the circle of supporters is growing: in 2022, Deutsche Umwelthilfe has become the seventh supporting association of the Green Electricity Label association.
Grüner Strom Label e.V. measures itself against the SDGs
What contribution does Grüner Strom Label e.V. make to sustainable development? This question is answered in the activity report on the basis of the classification in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are indicators negotiated by the global community against which various actors from politics, business and civil society can be measured - including the Grüner Strom Label e.V. On the one hand, the impact of the two eco-energy labels and on the other hand the impact of the activities in the office are used.
Renewable energies are the only real way into the future
The crises of the past year have made many people realize that dependence on fossil gas and oil, e.g. from Russia, will ultimately lead to a dead end and that renewable energies are the only real way into the future. For example, more than 280,000 people took to the streets during the global climate strike in September. And when protests were held against lignite mining in Lützerath earlier this year, up to 50,000 people came to the small village to draw attention to climate protection. The growing need for the energy transition is also reflected in our 2022 Activity Report. Download
