Bonn/Berlin, June 24, 2020. For the third time, the "Project Sustainability" prize was awarded by the Regional Network Centers for Sustainability Strategies (RENN) in cooperation with the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE). The Grüner Strom Label e.V. was able to convince the jury against the background of the global development goals of the United Nations (SDG) in the areas of "affordable and clean energy", "sustainable cities and communities" and "climate protection measures".
"A sustainable lifestyle is the linchpin for a future fit for grandchildren. With our Green Electricity and Green Gas eco-energy labels, we guarantee investments in the energy transition, such as the construction of photovoltaic and wind power plants, tenant electricity projects or the implementation of electromobility. Consumers can help shape a sustainable energy supply simply by purchasing electricity and gas," explains Daniel Craffonara, Managing Director of Grüner Strom Label e.V. In this way, over 1,400 energy transition projects have already been co-financed and implemented throughout Germany.
For many years, the "Project Sustainability" competition has been promoting companies, initiatives and projects that address the 17 global sustainability goals of the United Nations. In this way, projects and initiatives for sustainable development are made publicly visible in their diversity and receive awards. From local citizens' initiatives to nationwide education projects and international development projects. This year, Grüner Strom Label e.V. prevailed as one of 40 award winners among a good 370 applicants.
The association has been certifying high-quality green energy products for over 20 years. The association is supported and recommended by six non-profit environmental and nature conservation associations as well as peace and consumer organizations, including NABU, BUND and Deutsche Naturschutzring. They stand for a holistic civil society perspective on energy transition and actively contribute to the criteria for high-quality green electricity and biogas.

About the "Project Sustainability" quality seal
Under the title "Sustainability Project" (previously "Workshop N"), the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE) awarded initiatives and projects that are committed to sustainable development across the entire breadth of society until 2017. In doing so, it established a quality seal that makes projects and initiatives for sustainable development publicly visible and distinguishes them in their diversity. Since 2018, the four RENNs have continued this task, with the RNE as a strong cooperation partner at their side. www.projektnachhaltigkeit.renn-netzwerk.de
