What is behind the mobility revolution?

Mobility transition refers to the transition from conventional, fossil-based modes of transport to sustainable alternatives. The main goal is to decarbonize the transport sector, reduce air pollution and decrease dependence on fossil fuels. Germany has set ambitious targets to drive this transformation.

What measures are being taken to promote the mobility revolution?

A key measure to promote the mobility turnaround is to support the Electromobility. The German government has created financial incentives to make the purchase of electric vehicles more attractive. Purchase bonuses and tax breaks have been introduced to facilitate the switch to zero-emission vehicles. The efforts have already achieved considerable results: The number of newly registered electric vehicles is rising steadily, and Germany is becoming one of the leading markets for electromobility in Europe.

In addition to electromobility, the Expansion of public transport and bicycle traffic is being driven forward. In many cities, streetcars, subways and buses are being modernized and expanded to create attractive alternatives to private transport. The infrastructure for cyclists is being improved, for example by expanding bicycle lanes and creating bicycle parking spaces. These measures have already led to increased use of environmentally friendly modes of transport and improved traffic flow in cities.

What role does the Deutschlandticket play in the mobility revolution?

A significant step towards promoting sustainable mobility is the Germany ticketwhich was introduced as the successor to the €9 ticket. For €49 per month, it allows unlimited travel on public transportation within Germany. The Deutschlandticket promotes the use of public transport by offering low-cost and flexible mobility for all. It has already met with a high level of acceptance among the population. Eleven million customers have already taken advantage of the offer since May 1. In this way, the Deutschlandticket helps to reduce the burden on road traffic and cut emissions.

What else is needed for the mobility revolution?

However, the path to a complete mobility turnaround is not yet complete. There are still challenges to be overcome. These include the Expansion of the e-charging infrastructure, the creation of versatile transport systems, the integration of Sharing concepts and ensuring equitable accessibility to sustainable mobility solutions for all strata of the population.

The German government has announced that it will continue its efforts to promote the mobility transition. Further investment will be made in expanding the charging infrastructure to alleviate concerns about the range of electric vehicles. The promotion of sharing concepts and innovative mobility services will be advanced to enable efficient use of transport modes. In addition, the Cooperation between the federal states and municipalities intensified to achieve a coordinated and holistic mobility turnaround.

The mobility turnaround in Germany is in full swing. Great progress is already being made through a combination of electromobility, expansion of public transport, promotion of cycling and the Deutschlandticket. The coming years will be decisiveThe aim is to successfully implement the mobility turnaround and make Germany a pioneer in sustainable mobility.

The Green Electricity and Green Gas Seal of Approval support this trend. Energy providers offering a certified electricity or gas tariff promote the expansion of renewable energies with a fixed amount per kilowatt hour consumed and innovative Energy transition projects - This also includes the mobility revolution.
