"We are delighted that students are taking the initiative to educate and engage their fellow human beings about these important issues," explains Dr. Werner Neumann, jury member and spokesman for BUND's Energy Working Group. "The award-winning projects all have one thing in common: renewable energies can be experienced here, whether with a creative magazine, the multimedia event program or the construction of a mobile solar station."
Dr. Werner Neumann and his GSL board colleagues and the project partner network n as jurors of the competition had, among other things, a special eye on the proximity to the target topics around the energy transition. The project of the student initiative Bauraum for low-tech ideas particularly convinced the jury. After several weeks of theoretical study of renewable energies, two solar-powered hand carts were built. Students from the TU Berlin and the USA as well as refugees are to participate.
Furthermore, an event program of the student initiative Energybirds e.V. in Aachen was awarded. On the occasion of the climate conference in Paris, climate change is examined from the perspective of the energy transition - also funded here with 1,000 euros by the Grüner Strom-Label.
"The projects received from the student initiatives are very impressive and testify to the students' enthusiasm for the topic of renewable energies," says Johannes Geibel, chairman of netzwerk n. Students had until June 30 to apply.
At www.gruenerstromlabel.de at Promote energy transition the awarded projects will be published. Also the energyblogger, media partners of the competition, will shortly present some of the projects in more detail.
