There he met Marina Braun and Nils Becker, who have realized the construction of a photovoltaic system on the roof of the TU Central Library with the student association Solar Powers e.V.. One of the triggers for founding the association was the untapped potential of free roof space for clean solar power generation. Photovoltaic modules with a total area of four soccer fields could be installed on all TU properties. The basic idea: the photovoltaic system would be managed by the students themselves, and the TU would purchase the electricity produced.
The concept not only convinced those responsible at the TU Berlin, but also NATURSTROM AG and Grüner Strom Label e.V.. As part of the green power certification, the independent green power provider contributed 10,000 euros to the total costs of 50,000 euros. After long planning and intensive negotiations, the first photovoltaic system from Solar Powers was finally put into operation on the roof of the TU Central Library in 2016.
