- Promotion: A five-digit amount in total
- Date of promotion: 2015 - 2016
- Subject of the promotionFounding of the Köllertal eG citizen energy cooperative, energy transition event for interested citizens, PV system at Riegelsberg town hall, PV system at Püttlingen daycare center.
- Target: Diversity of actors and participation in and acceptance of the energy transition through citizen-oriented projects and educational work
Founded in 2015 by 15 citizens, the cooperative has already successfully implemented several energy transition projects. One example is the photovoltaic system on the roof of the town hall in Riegelsberg, which covers almost all of the town hall's electricity needs. Last year, a second system was also installed on the roof of the Püttlingen daycare center. Both systems were implemented by customers of NaturEnergie's green electricity-certified green electricity tariff NaturEnergie Gold. For every kilowatt hour sold, energy suppliers must invest a fixed amount of 1 cent in new energy transition projects.
Since January 2015, the Grüner Strom-Label has offered special funding opportunities - not only for projects of citizens' energy cooperatives, but also their foundation. This is intended to promote a decentralized energy turnaround. In the same year, NaturEnergie supported the founding of the BEG and its energy transition event with the funds derived from the Green Electricity certification.
Current data on the PV systems at the Riegelsberg town hall and the Püttlingen daycare center can also be accessed via the BEG Köllertal homepage. In addition to the energy currently generated, the CO2 saved as a result is also shown. In the near future, a 100 kWp photovoltaic system on the roofs of the new depot in Saarlouis is to supply electricity. As before, BEG Köllertal is working with local players. This also keeps a large part of the value creation in the region.
