Decentralized power generation and supply solutions are playing an increasingly important role in the growing expansion of renewable energies. In this course realizes Mainova in cooperation with local housing associations and cooperatives, new photovoltaic systems on roofs in Frankfurt am Main. The energy supplier plans, installs, finances and operates the systems, markets the electricity generated and ensures security of supply for tenants.
One project was implemented in July with the WBG housing cooperative in Frankfurt's Nordweststadt district. Their properties in Heilmannstraße now have three solar installations with a total of 164 modules on the flat roof. This is equivalent to the size of a tennis court. Mainova leased the roof area from the cooperative. The nominal output of the system is 42.64 kilowatts peak, and the expected electricity yield is more than 37,000 kWh per year. The electricity is fed directly into the building's grid and supplies the tenants. The surplus electricity goes to the general grid. Even when the sun is not shining, an uninterrupted supply is ensured by Mainova.
In financing the PV systems and the required metering systems, the Frankfurt-based energy service provider uses subsidies from its green electricity tariff Mainova. The largest customer for this high-quality green electricity product, which is certified with the Grüner Strom-Label, is the city of Frankfurt, which thus actively supports the expansion of renewable energies and local climate protection. And that's not all: the tenants also benefit, because residents of the property in Nordweststadt save up to 70 euros a year when they use the tenant electricity tariff.
