Driving the energy transition forward together with these green electricity tariffs

New green electricity tariffs awarded the Green Electricity Label
New green electricity tariffs awarded the Green Electricity Label
Many new green electricity tariffs are certified with the Green Electricity Label. We are very pleased that eight more energy providers share our vision of a renewable energy supply and present them.

Almost every energy supplier today offers green electricity. But not every green electricity tariff has an actual environmental benefit. Our labels help you find your way in the confusing energy market. The Green Electricity label guarantees that 100 percent genuine green electricity is generated and purchased. Our core criterion is also that the electricity suppliers support the expansion of renewable energies with a fixed amount per kilowatt hour sold.

We introduce you to the freshly certified green electricity tariffs that carry the Grüner Strom label and thus drive the energy transition - all with a different focus.

Sauber Energie: Clean Power Nature & Energy

Sauber Energie is our newest label recipient, which obtains electricity from 100 percent ecological hydropower. In addition, forest projects in the region are supported, as healthy forests are a sustainable basis for climate protection. But the operators of the hydropower plants are also obliged to invest in renewable energy plants, so that the energy turnaround is also promoted in other parts of Europe. The remaining CO2 emissions generated during the construction and operation of eco-power plants are offset via climate protection projects.

badenova AG & Co. KG: Ökostrom24 KLIMA

The Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Roland Weis, introduces badenova himself: "At badenova, we have always attached importance to two things in our green electricity tariffs: Transparency and verifiability. That is why quality certificates are so important to us. It's not enough to just pin on a green power label, you also have to explain to consumers where the power sources are, which generation plants supply the power, what quantities are available, etc. All the more so if, like us, you supply exclusively nuclear-free green electricity to private customers, or if you market electricity volumes from your own wind and solar plants in the region. Our own renewable plants are of course a contribution to the energy transition, but so is the energy we supply to customers, because it comes exclusively from renewable sources. We've calculated that this means we save 272,000 tons of CO2 per year (compared to the gray electricity mix) for our residential customers and 242,000 tons for our business customers."

Stadtwerke Kelheim GmbH & Co KG: Kelheim.NaturStrom, Kelheim.MobilStrom, Donau.NaturStrom

The Kelheim.NaturStrom and Donau.NaturStrom tariffs make an important contribution to environmental and climate protection. The electricity comes from environmentally friendly generation and is completely CO2-free. The Kelheim.MobilStrom green electricity tariff is exclusively for e-mobilists, who can charge their e-vehicles with 100 percent green electricity and thus drive their cars completely CO2-free.

SYNVIA energy GmbH: SYNVIA Fairsorgt, SYNVIA Solar direkt

SYNVIA energy GmbH operates its own photovoltaic systems on residential roofs with its own know-how in the real estate sector and thus brings the energy turnaround to its tenants. The end users of SYNVIA Solar directly receive their electricity directly from their own roof. If more electricity is needed than the PV system produces, the additional demand can be covered with green electricity certified according to the highest German environmental standards. As part of the Green Electricity Tenant Community, end consumers can transparently view their electricity supply.

Knauber Erdgas GmbH: KnauberStrom GrünAktiv, KnauberStrom Gewerbe GrünAktiv

With the KnauberStrom GrünAktiv tariff, you invest in the neighborhood in Bonn. For example, a photovoltaic system is being planned with the Albert Schweitzer Animal Shelter so that the shelter can cover its own electricity needs and save on electricity costs. The shelter, which houses cats, dogs, reptiles, rabbits, rodents and birds, relies on donations, which have declined as a result of the Corona pandemic. The fact that the photovoltaic system eliminates a high cost factor is a great relief.

Hamburg Energie GmbH: Elbstrand, Strandperle and eleven other tariffs

The managing director, Michael Prinz, says about the certification: "With the award of the Green Electricity Label, our customers can be sure that they will only find tariffs with real environmental benefits with us. More and more people are attaching importance to genuine green electricity and want to actively support the energy transition. We ourselves are proud that our long-standing commitment to the energy transition has now been confirmed by Germany's most demanding green electricity label."

WestfalenWIND Strom GmbH: WWS Hochstift, WWS Plus

Dr. Andreas Schmitt, the managing director of WestfalenWIND Strom, explains: "Many of our customers have consciously found their way to us because they want to support and accelerate the expansion of renewable energies. We pay special tribute to this desire through the demanding certification by the eco-electricity label of the environmental associations."

Stadtwerke Nürtingen GmbH: Bee power

Stadtwerke Nürtingen is addressing the problem of insect mortality. With the Bienenstrom tariff, you get green electricity that creates habitats for plants and insects. Not only does this mean 100 percent green electricity, but a blooming aid contribution of 1 cent per kilowatt hour of electricity consumed is used to finance the creation and maintenance of blooming areas. To put this into perspective, for a 3-person household with a consumption of 3,600 kilowatt hours, this corresponds to an area of approximately 500 square meters that is transformed into habitat for plants and insects via the areas owned by Blühpaten farmers.
