Customers of Stadtwerke Konstanz can do something good and promote the energy transition by purchasing electricity. With the Green Electricity Label certified tariff "SeeEnergie ÖkostromPlus", customers of Stadtwerke Konstanz make an active contribution to the local energy transition: 1 cent per kilowatt hour (kWh) of green electricity flows into the expansion and integration of renewable energies in Konstanz and the surrounding area. The seal of approval offers a double benefit: In addition to the purchase of 100 percent green electricity, the label guarantees investments in innovative energy transition projects. It is the only seal of approval for green electricity in Germany that is supported by leading environmental and consumer associations.
"We initiated quite a few projects along this path last year," says Gordon Appel, Head of Product Management at Stadtwerke Konstanz, and sees above all the great benefit for the energy turnaround triggered by the grants: 109,000 euros, and thus a large part of the grants, led to the realization of six photovoltaic systems in Konstanz with an output of around 300 kWp. This triggered a total investment in photovoltaic systems of around 351,000 euros.
Grants also went to the refrigerator subsidy for low-income households in cooperation with Caritasverband Konstanz e.V., the electric bicycle subsidy program, intelligent metering technology (tenant electricity model), the new LED lighting for the Riesenberg sports hall in Allensbach, and four charging stations for electromobility. The Charging station network for e-vehicles was promoted via the Green Electricity Label and is supplied with green electricity certified by the municipal utility. With every charge for the electric car, a subsidy amount automatically flows into new energy transition projects.
Grüner Strom Label e.V. certifies green energy products and awards two seals for this purpose: the Grüner Strom-Label for green electricity with added value and the Grünes Gas-Label for environmentally compatible biogas. Energy suppliers who sell a green electricity product with the Grüner Strom-Label are obliged to invest a minimum subsidy amount in new energy transition projects.
