Who are you and when did you join the Grüner Strom Label team? e.V.?
I'm Andrea and I've been part of the team at Grüner Strom Label e.V. since the beginning of 2024, where I work as a consultant for green electricity and green gas certification.
What motivated you to work for an energy transition association?
I have long been interested in topics relating to climate protection and the energy transition, which is why I wanted to dedicate myself to these topics professionally. My interest in working in the field of renewable energies grew even stronger during an internship and working student position at EUROSOLAR e.V.. I am very pleased that my work at Grüner Strom Label e.V. is now enabling me to continue to make a contribution to advancing the decentralized energy transition.
You work in certification at Grüner Strom Label e.V.. This field of work may not be immediately familiar to everyone. Can you briefly explain what your work involves?
As part of the certification process, we review the certification documents submitted by our energy suppliers and draw up the certification reports on this basis. This enables us to ensure that green electricity or biogas has actually been procured in accordance with our procurement criteria and that the end customer receives a sustainable product that guarantees the expansion of renewable energies through the subsidy amount. As part of the certification process, we also check whether the criteria in our list of criteria have been met and whether this results in a genuine energy transition benefit.
Is there anything you particularly like about this work?
I particularly like the variety of content in my day-to-day work. I learn a lot of new and exciting things about renewable energies in my work. But I also enjoy the appreciative exchange within the Grüner Strom Label e.V. team and the cooperation with our energy suppliers in the certification process in my day-to-day work. I also find it very motivating to be able to make a small contribution to the energy transition with my work. The work and the exchange with my colleagues motivate me to work even harder for the expansion of renewable energies and for more climate protection outside of work. It gives me a lot of hope to see how committed people are to the decentralized and citizen-oriented energy transition on a large and small scale - that's encouraging!
Does your daily engagement with the energy transition influence your daily decisions or habits?
Definitely! I find it very enriching to keep learning new things about the energy transition and to be able to reflect even more consciously on my own everyday decisions and habits as a result. For me, topics related to the energy transition, climate protection and sustainability play an important role in my everyday life, which is why I find the daily discussion of energy transition topics and, above all, the exchange with colleagues very valuable and can always take new input into my everyday life.
