- Promotion: approx. € 3.5 million, around 25 % of total cost
- Timing of Funding: 2015
- Object of Funding: 3 wind turbines of the type Vensys V112 with a capacity of 2.5 MW each
- Target: As a citizen wind farm, the project enables the participation of citizens from the region and increases the acceptance of wind farms.
Citizens from the surrounding area were able to participate financially in the turbines and were thus involved in the project. In addition, ten percent of the rents to be paid for the wind farm are earmarked for regional, charitable purposes. In this way, the project benefits all residents of the region and is a good example of the citizen-supported decentralized energy turnaround.
The 196-meter-high wind turbines generate approximately 15 million kWh of green electricity - enough to supply more than 6,000 two-person households with clean energy. The citizens' wind farm focuses on environmentally friendly energy generation by the citizens for the people in the region. Mayor Alfred Gündling is pleased to have found a partner on an equal footing: "NATURSTROM's sustainable concept is in line with what we want as a municipality. As the largest federal state in terms of area, Bavaria offers great development potential for wind energy.
Since 2014, NATURSTROM AG has supported other wind energy projects in the Bad Kissingen district with funds from the Green Electricity Certification, for example in the neighboring communities of Nüdlingen, Münnerstadt and Poppenlauer. "The support of all stakeholders in Ramsthal was enormous and crucial for the successful implementation," says project manager Christian Gruhlich.
The project shows how cooperation between energy suppliers and local stakeholders, combined with citizen participation, increases acceptance for wind power, leads to the implementation of even financially intensive projects, and ultimately benefits regional value creation.
