Knauber Energie plans to use its newly certified green electricity tariff "GrünAktiv" to finance the new photovoltaic system at the Bonn animal shelter. Regional roots and genuine ecological added value are a particular concern for the family-owned company.

Customers of the Bonn-based energy supplier Knauber can now make a conscious decision in favor of genuine green electricity with investments in the energy transition. The new "GrünAktiv" tariff has just been awarded the Grüner Strom-Label, Germany's most recognized green power seal, recommended and supported by leading environmental and consumer associations. The family-owned company is thus fulfilling its goal of offering more and more sustainable and low-emission products.

In addition to purchasing genuine green electricity, customers of the "GrünAktiv" tariff are doing something for the regional expansion of renewable energies: in the immediate vicinity of the company's headquarters, Knauber is planning a photovoltaic system on the roof of the Albert Schweitzer Animal Shelter in Bonn. The core criterion of the Green Electricity certification is that the electricity suppliers support the expansion of renewable energies with a fixed amount per kilowatt hour sold. So far, more than 1,500 energy transition projects have been realized and co-financed in this way. The amount paid here of 0.5 cents per kilowatt hour is to go towards the construction of the photovoltaic system so that the donation-financed animal shelter can use the electricity generated and thus save costs. These can then be spent on even more careful care of the animals.

The electricity tariff is also regionally anchored in other ways: in addition to the certified supply of 100% renewable electricity, with "GrünAktiv" this is also produced exclusively in Germany. Knauber has been supplying green electricity from hydropower for years and, with the certification for its "GrünAktiv" tariff, is now committed to generating added value for the climate and the region.

The Knauber Group is an owner-managed energy trading company based in Bonn. With more than 120 years of experience in the energy sector, Knauber offers a broad portfolio, from classic energy sources for heat and mobility to innovative and sustainable alternatives and energy supply concepts. The medium-sized, family-owned company is characterized by high quality standards and close proximity to its customers.

How a noise barrier becomes a solar plant and drives the energy transition

The "SeeEnergie ÖkostromHeimat" green electricity tariff from Stadtwerke Konstanz was awarded the Grüner Strom-Label. The electricity comes from photovoltaic systems that were built on a noise barrier. The environmental associations' seal of approval obliges energy providers to invest in the energy transition. For example, the photovoltaic system on the roof of the inclusive Seehörnle Hotel run by Caritas was co-financed.

Transformation of Münster's heating networks - large-scale heat pump in the port power plant

A new energy transition project is being realized in Münster: The large heat pump in the port power plant will be an important component of the heat transition. As the system meets the strict criteria of the Grüner Strom-Label, it is eligible for subsidies. The heat pump will be climate-neutral thanks to its operation with green electricity-certified green power.
