Certified green electricity and biogas tariffs sustainably promote the energy transition. The guaranteed subsidy component of the Green Electricity and Green Gas seals of approval no longer flows only into the area of electricity generation, but also into other sectors that are necessary for a renewable energy future.
Renewable energies enable a secure, flexible and independent energy supply. Especially in times of Energy crisis it is important to act. In addition to energy-saving behavior, investments must be made in the expansion of renewable energies. The Grüner Strom Label e.V. is also aware of this and has expanded the funding opportunities within the scope of the funding component of the Green Electricity and Green Gas seals of approval. In the future, energy turnaround projects can be funded not only as before Power generation plants be, but the investments flow into the sectors Mobility turnaround, Energy infrastructure, Energy efficiency as well as other energy transition-supporting projects, like Conservation, Development cooperation and education. In this way, energy suppliers can promote the transformation of the entire energy system with the help of the eco-energy labels and their customers.
Energy transition projects in practice
A Power generation plants-project, for example, is tenant electricity, which was promoted by the green electricity tariff "Mainova ÖkoPremium". For tenant electricity projects in Frankfurt am Main, Mainova AG is leased roof areas on which the energy supplier operates PV systems. The electricity generated by these systems is primarily consumed on site. If the self-generated electricity is not sufficient, certified green electricity is purchased. Conversely, surplus PV electricity can be fed into the public grid.
A project from the new funding area Mobility turnaround is, for example, the installation of charging infrastructure for electromobility in Regensburg. This project was realized through REWAG's green electricity tariff "rewario-strom.natur.regio". After completion, around 850 parking spaces for e-charging stations will be available in the Dörnberg district.
The subsidy component of the green electricity tariff "SeeEnergie" from Stadtwerke Konstanz made this example project from the field of Energy efficiency: For the energy-efficient lighting refurbishment in Constance, ineffective light sources and luminaires are replaced with energy-saving, ecological and sustainable lighting and illumination systems.
Climate-friendly heat in Moosach through biomass and solar thermal energy was realized with the support of customers of the "naturstrom" green electricity tariff of Naturstrom AG. The new local heating network as a result of the reconstruction of the Energy infrastructure supplies around 70 households.
There are other exciting energy transition projects here.
Energy providers offering a certified electricity or gas tariff promote the expansion of renewable energies and innovative energy transition projects with a fixed amount per kilowatt hour consumed. In total, more than 80 million euros have already been invested through the support component of Grüner Strom Label e.V.. This has enabled more than 1,600 ecologically valuable projects to be supported.
